Festival Verdi

The thematic selection also includes a strong reference to the relationship between distant “cultural worlds,” both in terms of the meeting and collision of peoples and in terms of the impact on individual destinies. Rounding out the program are the Verdi Gala - dedicated to Verdi’s fascination with the exotic, featuring excerpts from Il Corsar* and Jérusalem – Messa da Requiem, the Concert by Accademia Verdiana, and Fuoco di gioia. Furthermore, Ramificazioni - the Festival section that combines Verdi’s legacy with the creativity of other composers - takes us on a journey through the settings evoked by Wagner’s late 19th century (in Parsifal, which draws on Buddhism), Debussy’s impressionism, Dvořák’s exploration of Native American folklore (1893), to the Indian philosophy of Stockhausen’s historical avant-garde of the 1970s, to Henze’s fascination with Japan (2003), and finally to the musical theater of Lucia Ronchetti (2024), which evokes the migration of people and works, both today and in the past. The program is enriched by two world-premiere commissions: Nabucco: Canto del mondo mutilato by Lenz Fondazione and Micro Danze by CCN/Aterballetto.
