VERDI OFF FOR SETTEMBRE GASTRONOMICO
DANZE STORICHE ALLA REGGIA
In a whirlwind of cylinders and crinolines, couples of dancers in period costume dance on some of the most famous pages of the nineteenth-century repertoire, transforming the Garden of the Reggia di Colorno into a large ballroom.
In case of bad weather, the show will take place inside the Colorno Palace.

Embracing the spirit of Commedia dell’Arte, two masked characters tell the story of Rigoletto interpreting all the characters as acrobats and comedians used on chariots. An accordionist will accompany their journey with arias from the opera and two folk ballads.
The artists will move on the streets with their chariot: a movable theatre-rickshaw that recalls the XVI tradition of mobile performance, in an eco-friendly fashion.
The idea is to restore and actualize an early-XX century custom, when taverns where places to taste local food and wine but also to listen to troubadours. With the use of an accordion, they would sing arias and telling memorable stories. Rigo-letto e narrato wants to represent a ‘metropolitan incursion’ in the operatic work of Verdi, involving an audience who cannot (or would not) go to the theatre. A special, farce-like staging curated by Mario Mascitelli present two masked characters traveling on a movable stage and narrating the story of Rigoletto by interpreting all the characters with the help of an accordionist, who will perform popular arias and ballads from the opera.

Una serata per ripartire
The Centro Agroalimentare di Parma celebrates the end of the dire, though necessary, restrictive measures of phase 1 during the pandemic with the special charity initiative, in favour of the sanitation operators and their commitment and courage to oppose the Covid-19 virus for the sake of their communities and territory. The event will present a set of tastings accompanied by a dj set, following a concert by saxophonist Flavio Sax and a string quartet on the rooftop of Centro Direzionale building, then the readings of literature and poetry by Associazione Outspoken, the aerial dance show Vale sulla luna by Valentina Franchino, the performance of the songwriter Michele Veneziano, a.k.a. São Miguel e le Fiji. Finally, after the institutional speech by Azienda Ospedaliera di Parma and partners of CAL for their work during the lockdown, the evening will end with another performance by Flavio Sax.

IN CUCINA CON VERDI
Cooking show with Giammaria Aliverta
The director, dramatist and actor, Gianmaria Aliverta will present the show In cucina con Verdi in Parma on September 24. He will stage a lesser-known aspect of Verdi: his passion for cuisine. He was in fact a real gourmand, as revealed by many letters he wrote where he described his relationship with food and that he had hired a personal cook. In cucina con Verdi starts form a letter written by the Maestro to Giulio Ricordi where he asked him for a piece of advice regarding where to find a skilled cook. Aliverta will interpret the chef who wants to be hired by Verdi: he presents himself to both Verdi and his wife Giuseppina Strepponi, the two singers onstage. The show is highly accurate and built on a concrete set of historical documents. Art, culture and cooking are the real protagonists of the show, alternating the performance of Verdi’s arias with the narration of anecdotes and real cooking on stage by Aliverta, who will prepare a ‘risotto allo zafferano’ (risotto with saffron), one of Verdi’s favorite recipes, siding the special menu that the chefs from Parma Quality restaurants conceived starting from Verdi’s most appreciated dishes and especially for this show.
