CORO DI LUCE
Coro di luce, the masterpiece of the artist Stefano Mazzanti, is an dynamic installation made of 24/36 luminous 3-meter columns with multi-color LED, with a personalized color disposition, created for the specific hosting room or space. The group of columns performs a series of light variations, with intensity and color change previously programmed and perfectly synchronized with the performance of the musical program which in Parma will focus on a reworking of Verdi’s themes in an electronic key. The project is the winner of the Verdi Off Call to Artists, which invited to imagine an artistic project inspired by Festival Verdi works that would connect with the urban space.
“I chose to work on La traviata and on the character of Violetta because I think it is Verdi’s most actual work. Above all, the character of Violetta, a “free” woman, but trapped to the point of killing her, by a male chauvinist and patriarchal society. Which unfortunately still happens every day to many women (and I think our society is still very manly and patriarchal). The installation wants to tell this, always with the lightness and poetry that the choir of light allows. Specifically, I arranged the columns in order to make a rectangle of about 5m x 7m. Inside the rectangle, on the black floor of the hall, there will be white camellia petals. The idea is that of a choir of men that acts as a cage and inside, the world of Violetta, or rather, what remains of it. The audio consistently is a montage of fragments divided into two sections. The base is a light electronic sound mixed with the very delicate first notes of the prelude (it is the soul of Violetta). Male voices and choirs burst over it to dominate it. I deliberately excluded the sung parts of Violetta and any other female voice, even from the Brindisi, and kept only the men (Alfredo and his father above all)”. Stefano Mazzanti

Verdi Off in Safety
This special edition of Verdi Off has been conceived and realized in accordance with the safety and health normative for both audience and artists. At the entrance of every venue all participants will find sanitizing gel distributors, and they will be checked with a thermoscanner to monitor their body temperature. The audience is required to bring a mask, to avoid crowding and to respect the one-metre social distancing. The mask needs to be worn by covering both mouth and nose during access, exit and the whole duration of the performance. Before leaving the seats, we invite you to wait for the signal of our staff and their directions in order to avoid unwanted crowding. Reservations are necessary only when requested by following the instructions related to the single events. In order to reserve a seat, it is necessary to provide a telephone number or email address, which will remain stored for 14 days. Reservations are to be made under a single name (it is not allowed to reserve more seats under a unique name) and any nominal change has to be communicated to the ticket office in order to be valid. As the staff will be checking the correspondence between tickets headers and holders at the entrance of every show, please provide a valid identification document in a timely fashion.
