PA 2019-11946/RER approved by Regional Council Resolution n.1381/2019 co-financed by the European Social Fund and Regione Emilia-Romagna).
The course, established by the Fondazione Teatro Regio di Parma in collaboration with Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, Accademia d’arte lirica di Osimo, the Comune di Parma Assessorato alla cultura, Istituto nazionale di studi verdiani, La Toscanini, and Fondazione Franco Zeffirelli, is aimed at candidates aged 18 or over on 12 January 2020, that are resident or domiciled in Emilia Romagna, and that have completed a diploma of singing or attended private tuition. Those in private tuition must obtain a declaration from their teacher pertaining to their suitability.
Applications, including all relative documentation, must be received via email no later than Sunday 12 January 2020 at: accademiaverdiana@teatroregioparma.it. Selections will take place at the Teatro Regio di Parma from 20 to 22 January and the 12 singers selected will be able to participate in vocal, musical, and theatrical excellence training, free of charge, and will receive a scholarship of €1,000. One or more scholarships, the value of which will be communicated at the end of the selection phase, will be available for students from low income households.
The course will be led by teachers, professionals, and vocal coaches who specialise in the Veridian repertoire – Renata Scotto, Mariella Devia, Barbara Frittoli, Sonia Ganassi, Fiorenza Cedolins, Michele Pertusi, Roberto de Candia, Giovanna Casolla, Giulio Zappa – and includes individual, group, and masterclass lessons covering all aspects of interpretation, and the professional profile management of an opera singer: study of the score, diction, vocal and interpretative techniques, vocal ensemble music, stage movement and group interaction, acting, history of opera, and the management of your own professional profile.
The training also includes workshops, seminars, and meetings with conductors, directors, singers, and operatic theatre professionals that students can watch in action at the rehearsals of the productions for the Opera Season, Festival Verdi and Verdi Off 2020. The classes, amounting to 1,000 hours, will be held from 3 February to 18 July and from 1 September to 24 November 2020 at the Teatro Regio di Parma. Participants may also be offered artistic collaboration opportunities for the Opera Season, Festival Verdi, and Verdi Off.
