GUERRILLA VERDI #INCURSIONI URBANE
The city becomes an open-air stage where different human typologies, from the most conventional and accepted to the most unconventional, come to life in different urban contexts, through the arias of some of the most emblematic Verdi protagonists of the famous Trilogia Popolare. A contemporary Rigoletto constrained to beg at the train station, a Violetta of our days, waiting at the airport for a flight that will take her to a better life, or a modern Azucèna, an eternal exile forced to migrate from city to city, looking for her place in a world that often ignores her. “New” characters, often marginalized, different, misunderstood, or idealized, stereotyped, always according to well-defined social conventions.
An artistic initiative to act directly on a urban and social level in order to destroy the ‘number one enemy’ of contemporary society: prejudice. The show aims at promoting a reflection upon the importance of diversity and its beauty, narrating it as a fundamental value of contemporaneity to welcome, nurture and preserve.
In a historical moment of forced social distancing, Guerrilla Verdi is a urban performance that crushes fears and mistrust towards whoever is different from ourselves. The extraordinary Verdi music breaks such invisible but deep and rooted barriers, opening a dialogue between men and women, citizens, and whoever lives within the social relationships in the city on a daily basis.
